Hello everyone, this is a little section about me. My name is Matthew Russo and I live in Orange County, California. I'm 20 years old and currently attending college at Golden West College and also at Irvine Valley College. As you can probably tell, right now I'm a pretty busy guy going to school and working full time. Pretty much all of my life I've lived in the OC. I enjoy it here but I want to experience what the world has to offer.
The first time I have ever listened to any electronic music was probably when I was 16. Napster and other various programs were out and I got a hold of some old songs like Darude - Sandstorm, etc etc. I never knew what DJ'ing was until I went to my first concert/rave, Moby Area 2 Tour at the Verizon amphitheater in Irvine. The lineup was Diesel Boy, DJ Dan, Tiesto, John Digweed (for most of you who know the scene, thats one heck of a lineup). So around 10 o' clock or so I showed up to the party right when Tiesto was spinning. He was going INSANE jumping all over the place spinning the craziest set. Right then I knew I wanted to be a DJ. I wanted to be the guy going nuts on the stage with tons of people dancing to your music. Luckily enough I have really awesome parents that back me in everything I do, so I asked with a big smile, "Mom/Dad can I please have a turntable for Christmas?" Sure enough my parents got me a set of turntables. From there on, it was go time. I mixed everyday straight for about 4 hours a day. It took me a full year to really learn how to beat match and another half a year to learn the timing. After that, I've only been going up. I continued to use my beginner mixer until I was able to save up for the Pioneer DJ-500, which is basically the industry standard. Now I have a keyboard and I'm slowly but surely teaching myself how to produce. As you can probably tell, I'm kind of a do-it-yourself guy, it's easier for me to learn on my own then for someone to show me. So, between full time work, school, and DJ'ing/producing I still somehow find time for friends and family. I love my life and will continue to work hard for my goals. Hopefully you will get to hear some of my productions within the year. Thank you all for reading the About Me section and feel free to write me an e-mail, my contact info is listed in the Contact section. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say, thank you again for visiting my website and take care.
